Traditional Gua Sha Therapy in NYC Chinatown

Traditional gua sha: a smooth-edged tool is drawn along oiled skin over the back, shoulders and neck to work through tightness. A long-standing Chinatown therapy, often combined with tuina or cupping.

Who it suits

  • Tight, heavy shoulders and upper back
  • That run-down feeling after a long stretch of work
  • Guests who already know gua sha from home
  • Pairing with cupping or tuina in one visit

Common questions

Will it leave red marks?

Reddish marks along the strokes are normal and usually fade within a few days. Tell us if you have an event coming up and we work lighter.

Does it hurt?

It feels like firm scraping pressure, warm rather than sharp. Pressure is adjustable at any moment — say the word.

Who should avoid gua sha?

Tell us first if you are pregnant, on blood thinners, sunburnt, or have broken or very sensitive skin — we will suggest a massage instead.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome when a room is free, but Chinatown gets busy in the evenings and at weekends. Booking online takes under a minute and holds your time.
